Sea Ice Type Product monitoring

The quality of the OSI SAF sea ice type product for Northern Hemisphere is monitored on a half yearly basis, and presented in the half yearly OSI SAF validation reports. The results of this monitoring is presented in the table below.

The quality monitoring is done as a monitoring of the monthly variation of the multi year ice area coverage, as presented in the table below. The monthly standard deviation (STD) in the difference from the running mean of the multi-year ice (MYI) area coverage shall be below 100.000km² to meet the target accuracy requirement.
